Job Description: Director of Member Engagement & Operations
Reports to: LDCC Board of Directors
Status: Full-time, approximately 35 hours/week
1. Position Summary
The Director of Member Engagement & Operations leads the day-to-day operations of the Lindsay & District Chamber of Commerce, including growing and retaining a healthy membership base, delivering the Chamber's events and programs, managing staff and partnerships, maintaining effective communications, and representing the Chamber in the community. The Director of Member Engagement & Operations reports to the Board of Directors and is the Chamber's sole full-time staff position, supported seasonally by an Executive Assistant and summer tourism staff.
2. Core Responsibilities
Membership Development & Retention
Proactively recruit new members through direct outreach, networking, referrals, and event-based conversion.
Manage a defined renewal and at-risk member process, including scheduled reminders, personal outreach before account lapse, and regular review of overdue or pending accounts.
Maintain accurate and current membership records in the Chamber's membership and customer relationship management systems.
Financial Administration
Maintain the Money In/Money Out log for Board visibility and include appropriate financial information in the monthly report to the board.
Provide timely and accurate expense documentation and receipts for reimbursement.
Support the Treasurer with financial administration and reporting as required. Full financial statements, budget-to-actual reporting, bank reconciliation, and CRA remittances remain under the Treasurer's oversight in accordance with LDCC financial controls and payment policies.
Operate within approved budgets, financial policies, signing authorities, and Board approvals.
Event & Program Management
Plan and deliver the Chamber's signature annual events, including the Awards Gala, and AGM, together with recurring Chamber programs and community events.
Secure event sponsors, vendors, and venues; manage ticketing, logistics, volunteer coordination, and event follow-up.
Partner with community organizations and member charities on co-hosted initiatives and fundraisers where approved.
Staffing & Human Resources
Hire, onboard, schedule, supervise, and support seasonal and temporary staff, including summer tourism ambassadors and the Executive Assistant, and administer related grant programs where applicable.

3. Performance Expectations
The Director of Member Engagement & Operations is accountable for achieving organizational objectives established by the Board of Directors. Performance is assessed against the responsibilities of the role and the Board-approved annual performance objectives, which may include membership development and retention, financial stewardship, event and program performance, communications, stakeholder engagement, operational effectiveness, and other strategic priorities. Specific annual targets and incentive compensation measures are maintained separately from this job description.
